Via centaur ncore ai: a chip for ia that amazes the cpu sector
Table of contents:
VIA and CenTaur have surprised the CPU industry with their new CHA microarchitecture and their NCORE A I co-processor.
CenTaur is a division of the VIA company that has been developing its first processor with integrated AI. We see that the main manufacturers are turning fully into the world of Artificial Intelligence, but VIA has wanted to do the same. The funny thing is that this news has surprised Intel and AMD. We tell you below.
VIA CenTaur is “hunted” with its new processor
Possibly, the NCORE AI is the first x86 processor released by a company that is not Intel or AMD. It has been leaked by fellow SemiAccurate, in which we see the 8-core CenTaur CHA NCORE.
The processor seems to fit LGA, seeing its alienation notches and auxiliary traces on the rear. On the other hand, the package's contact points seem to cast a shadow, giving the image of a BGA package. At the top we have the integrated heat sink; at the bottom, a square ending.
This processor follows TSMC's 16nm FinFET process. At first glance, we could say that it has a lot of pins for this chip size, but it may be due to I / O technology, which has a quad-channel DDR4 memory interface and 44 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes.
We don't know yet, but SemiAccurate spotted these chips at CES in Las Vegas. Maybe this year we will have more news about this chip. Everything indicates that this processor is aimed at technology companies.
