For most users, relating Linux to video games is somewhat difficult, although there are many games that are compatible with the different penguin distros. It is possible that many do not know that video games can be played from the Linux Terminal itself, most of them clones of great classics such as Pacman, Sudoku or Space Invaders.

Installing and playing them from the Terminal itself is quite simple and in this article we are going to show you 9 games that you can play right now:

Nudoku:

  • This is a clone of the classic Sudoku in 9 x 9 rows to fill

MyMan:

  • The classic Pac-Man specially adapted for the terminal.

Moon Buggy:

  • A simple game where we must overcome obstacles with a car made entirely of plain text. The keyboard arrows are used to jump.

Zangband:

  • This is a quite elaborate adventure game where we control a character who must avoid dungeons full of dangers, practically a role-playing game.

Nethack:

  • It is similar to the previous one but with a "hacker" theme, the latter two of the most elaborate for the Linux Terminal.

Greed:

  • Another clone of the classic Pac-Man and Tron, similar to the previous one but with colored texts.

Pacm4console:

  • One more Pac-Man clone developed by Mike Billars.

Robot Finds Kitten:

  • This is a game where we control a robot (or so it seems), the purpose is to find the hidden cat on stage.

nInvaders:

  • A clone of the classic Space Invaders, the legendary shooters perfectly suited for the Linux Terminal.

All of these games can be easily installed with the command:

sudo apt-get install

An example is this command and at the end the name of the game:

sudo apt-get install pacman4console

The command is valid for Debian systems. If you know of any more do not hesitate to share it in the comment box.
