Vulkan receives nvidia support
Nvidia, the largest manufacturer of graphics processors for PCs, is preparing to support the new Vulkan API developed by Khronos Group and which comes to replace OpenGL and to compete against Microsoft's DirectX 12.
The Nvidia GeForce 358.66 drivers introduce support for the Vulkan API, it is certainly excellent news that a company like Nvidia supports a cross-platform API like Vulkan.
Recall that Vulkan is based on AMD Mantle, most likely in a way very similar to how Microsoft's own DX 12 does, an API that Nvidia rejected at the time in favor of DirectX 12, something understandable because it is a specifically designed API to work on AMD hardware.
For now we can only wait for the first video games based on Vulkan and DirectX 12 to reach the mark to check their real improvement in performance and graphic quality, let's hope they do not disappoint us and that they work really well on all GPUs.
