Robustness and reliability in the new WD Gold hard drives
This new range of hard drives called WD Gold by Western Digital plans to meet the demand of the business sector and "datacenters" with a line that basically consists of 4 TB, 6 TB and 8 TB 3.5-inch drives that places special emphasis in robustness and reliability.
The 3 models of WD Gold hard drives are 7, 200 RPM with the SATA 3 interface and about 128MB of cache that ensure optimum speed for a mechanical hard drive. WD Gold hard drives are specially optimized to be used in RAID mode with RAFF support, an anti-vibration system that protects the disk heads in case of movement. Also present will be the TLER system that allows time-limited error recovery, a proprietary Western Digital system.
WD Gold: Disks for Datacenters and Home NAS
The 8 TB version of the WD Gold line goes a little further in terms of reliability, it belongs to the series "HelioSeal", which is a completely sealed disc and filled with helium that reduces the friction of the cymbal spinning and the read and write head, this reduces consumption, adding longer life to the hard drive.
Prices for this new WD Gold line range from $ 309 for the 4TB disk, $ 499 for the 6TB model and $ 619 for the 8TB.
