Recently, the popular instant messaging application, WhatsApp, has received an update to its iOS version that adds full support for the large 6.5-inch screen of the iPhone XS Max, as well as some other improvements and the occasional “hint” about what's to come.

WhatsApp on the new iPhone

This year, the leader in instant messaging has not done much to beg. Just a couple of weeks after its official release, WhatsApp has released update 2.18.100 which adds full support for 2688 x 1242 resolution of Apple's new 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. Thus, from this moment the WhatsApp interface takes full advantage of the OLED screen of the new device.

Along with this expected novelty, the messaging platform has also introduced a new contextual menu of actions that facilitate interaction from the "bubbles" or "snacks" within each of the conversations.

As we can see in the image above, in previous versions, when clicking on any of the messages in a chat, a menu of options appeared similar to the one that appears in the rest of the iOS operating system. With the new version, the menu has been completely redesigned, with a much more pleasant and user- friendly appearance. The selected message remains highlighted while the available options are displayed in a foreground pop-up window.

In addition, "the consecutive voice messages will now be played in automatic sequence", in such a way that we will no longer have to press each of the audios one by one, but we will be able to listen to all the received audios with a single touch, as long as be consecutive.

Finally, it should be noted that WABetaInfo has discovered by investigating in the code of this recent version that WhatsApp will include an optional dark mode in the future, as well as the possibility of watching videos from the notifications themselves.
