Windows 10: cumulative updates kb3163018 and kb3163017

Microsoft has just released new cumulative updates for Windows 10 that strongly recommend downloading and installing them as soon as possible.

As is the case with each cumulative update, they have all the updates that have been released from the current version that we have installed to the last one that has been published to date. This is especially recommended for those who have Windows Update disabled on their computer.

In the case of KB3163018 and KB3163017, the focus is on bug fixes and security patches, so you won't find any new features in them, but you will generally get better performance after installing them.

KB3163018 for Windows 10 version 1511

KB3163018 is a cumulative update for those with Windows 10 version 1511 from November last year. This update will bring improvements for many of the applications packaged in the operating system, including Internet Explorer 11, Maps, Cortana, the Edge browser, and File Explorer.

It also brings some major fixes for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, including one that caused phones to stop ringing when an incoming call and alert were received at the same time.

KB3163017 for Windows 10 version 10240

For KB3163017, this cumulative update is for computers that are still in the RTM version released in June 2015, and includes most of the fixes and improvements for built-in applications.

Both updates can be downloaded through Windows Update and a reboot is required to complete the installation.
