QNAP has announced the availability of the TR-004U, a 4-bay hardware RAID storage expansion unit that supports PCs or NAS solutions with USB 3.0 Type-C connectivity in 1U format.

The QNAP TR-004 is now available in 1U format

This unit can be used to increase the available storage of a NAS (or as an external storage device connected to the NAS) or as a hardware-based RAID storage solution for PCs. The TR-004U supports individual storage configurations, JBOD and RAID 0/1/5/10.

With the new QNAP expansion unit, buyers can create RAID parameters and create a storage pool using the Storage and Snapshots QTS application. It also allows file sharing and exchange on PCs and is compatible with the exFAT file system. Those who use the TR-004 U as an expansion unit for their PCs can take advantage of the QNAP External RAID Manager utility , allowing them to easily view disk status, change RAID settings, check logs, and update their firmware.

The TR-004U comes with a DIP button on the rear panel, which changes the device's disk settings. Other features include status indicators and lockable hard drive tray.

Jason Hsu, QNAP Product Manager, comments: “The TR-004U is a new option for NAS and DAS expansion, with a single device available on a server, PC or workstation. While QNAP NAS users can add storage space to their NAS with the TR-004U, server, PC and workstation users can purchase the device, purchase a NAS later, and continue to use their TR-004U to obtain the maximum profitability ”.

The QNAP TR-004U unit is now available and you can see more details on its official page.
