After having problems with several major brands such as Coca-Cola or Walmart, YouTube has decided to withdraw ads from all channels with less than 10, 000 visits.

5 years ago, YouTube launched its partner program, which offered all users the possibility to monetize their videos. This model is what helped the platform to become so popular, but it has also brought many problems, especially since many users created hundreds of accounts and uploaded the videos of famous Youtubers, record labels or film studios, in order to get some visits for your own channels.

All YouTube videos will be reviewed by a human team and not by algorithmic methods

In an effort to end these bad practices on its platform, YouTube has announced that from now on, users will no longer be able to activate the monetization option until they reach 10, 000 accumulated views among all the videos. This is a threshold that apparently will allow the company to get better information about a channel and see if it really is authentic or not. In addition, the reviews that will be made from now on will be by human teams and not through the use of algorithmic methods.

In addition to preventing partner videos from being copied and re-uploaded to the platform by fake artists, the company also ensures that ads from brands investing on the platform do not end up alongside videos with offensive content, such as racist or extremist.

This has been a big problem in the past few weeks and we've even seen Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Walmart break their collaboration with YouTube precisely because their ads appeared alongside very strange videos.

But we hope this changes from now on with the new rules in place. In addition, the limit of 10, 000 visits is not so great as to remove those users who want to become youtubers, and it can be easily reached in a few days if the videos are interesting.
