Unboxing and design

Zotac presents the Zbox Pi330 in a very compact box and that on its cover we have an image of the product, the model and indicates the size of the internal memory and RAM.

On the back, it explains in more detail its characteristics and its benefits compared to other models on the market. Among them its passive dissipation, its small size, flexibility and support for double screen.

Once we open it and as we expected, it comes perfectly protected and brings a wide range of accessories. We detail what the bundle incorporates:

Zotac ZBOX Pi330. External power supply and adapters European, English and American. Disc with software and drivers. Instruction manual and quick guide. Screws for installation to the built-in VESA bracket (bracket) and a minijack adapter.

The Zotac ZBOX Pi330 has dimensions of 115mm x 76mm x 20.7mm and a very light weight that fits in just the palm of one hand. As we see in the back area we have a microSD card reader.

Its glossy black design gives it a very premium touch but it also leaves fingerprints with great ease. On the right side we have the power button, which we must press for a few seconds to turn on the equipment. This will turn on a LED system with the brand name a blue circle around it.

Like the upper area, the lower area has a shiny finish and in this case I recommend not removing the plastic since it does not give us any advantage, except that you want it to be the visible face of the product.

Components and interior

To open the MiniPC we must remove the back cover with our fingers. It has a small notch that helps us remove it.

As we can see the Zotac ZBOX Pi330 first presents the normal battery, a Wifi 802.11 AC connection with Bluetooth 4.0 support. To see more of its interior what we must do is remove the four screws from each corner with great care and the protective plastic that surrounds it.

Once we remove it, we find a heatsink that covers the entire PCB of the equipment. We must also remove its screws and we will keep the plate loose.

As we can see it incorporates thermalpad both in the memories and the chip. This helps to better cool the hottest components and is a totally passive system.

It features an Intel Atom x5-Z8500 SoC processor based on the dual-core, low-power Cherry Trail architecture. Its manufacturing process is 14nm and runs at frequencies of 1.44 GHz (base), with turbo rises to 2.24 GHz and a 2W TDP.

As a graphics card it has an Intel HD Graphics HD 5300 compatible with DirectX 11.2 and a frequency of 600 MHz, for example games like Counter Strike GO is capable of moving it or any movie in Ultra HD (4K) H.265 without any problem. Among its output connections it has HDMI 1.4b and DisplayPort 1.1a.

Regarding RAM memory, it has 2 GB LPDDR3 that are enough to move Windows 10 64 Bits with enough ease and are more than enough for any office task or multimedia playback with KODI.

Finally, I would like to point out that it incorporates a total of 32 GB of hard disk (eMMC format) that cannot be expanded, although we can use a microSD card or a USB connector to have more storage.

We have tested the equipment both with Windows 10 that comes pre-installed with daily tasks: consultation of websites and basic office packages as with the KODI repdoctor in its latest version, always in Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution. And the experience has been really good.

And this is where I want to stop a bit, unlike systems like Raspberry Pi 3 that only has a 10/100 LAN, the Zotac offers Gigabit connectivity that will make us get the most out of our network and remotely play with your NAS.

In our tests we have seen that for basic office use it is a very valid device, Windows 10 runs smoothly (it includes an activated license) and it allows to play 4K multimedia content with KODI without problem. That is, we are facing a small all-terrain vehicle that any of us wants to have at home.
