We have new details of the upcoming Intel processors manufactured at 10nm, this time, it is a new Intel Cannon Lake Core m3-8114Y processor, a processor focused on the segment of products with very low power consumption, with a TDP of so only 4.5 watts.
New Core m3-8114Y processor
This new Cannon Lake m3 processor is built on Intel's new 10nm manufacturing process. Unlike Intel's recently unveiled Cannon Lake i3-8121U, this new processor appears to have an active iGPU component, something that makes it suitable for a wider range of products.
We recommend reading our post on Lenovo Ideapad 330 is the first notebook with a Cannon Lake processor
This new Core m3-8114Y processor offers a quad core four wire configuration and UHD series graphics. Like most low TDP offerings, its base frequency of this processor is quite low, 1.5GHz, although it is suitable for a processor designed for use in tablets and PCs with very low power consumption. Another interesting aspect is the support for LPDDR4 memory, a low-consumption memory that is normally used in the mobile market. These data suggest that the Core i3-8121U is made from a faulty Core m3-8114Y array, which explains the Core i3's lack of iGPU functionality.
It is possible that Intel will reveal new Cannon Lake Core M processors at Computex next month, these new processors could be used to create a new range of tablets and other devices with Windows 10 with a very low power consumption, ideal to compete with the processors based on ARM, which are already compatible with the full version of Windows 10 for a few months.
