We have new information about the Intel Z390 chipset, which has been discussed for months. New 3DMARK data confirms that the Z390 chipset works with current Coffee Lake S processors, something that was already to be expected otherwise.
Current Coffee Lake processors are compatible with the Intel Z390 chipset
There is no doubt that Ryzen's arrival has caused Intel to have released its Coffee Lake processors ahead of schedule. In such a hurry, Intel would have had to take the Z270 chipset and vitaminize it as a Z370 to support the new processors. This situation has caused that what should have been the new Z370 chipset, has to arrive later in the form of Z390, the true top of the range of the Coffe Lake-S platform.

Videocardz has uncovered 3DMARK logs showing a Z390 series motherboard supporting Intel's i7 8700T and i7 8700K CPUs, confirming that Z390 will continue to use an LGA 1151 socket. This Intel Z390 chipset is expected to live up to new Eight-core Coffee Lake-S processors, something that until recently was a wet dream for users of Intel's mainstream platform.
It is possible that the eight-core Coffee Lake and the new Z390 motherboards will be announced at Computex this year 2018, we will be watching for the appearance of new information. It will be very interesting to see that they are able to offer the new eight-core Intel Coffee Lake processors and how they behave compared to the AMD Ryzen 7, which offer the same number of cores.
