It has been confirmed that the Zen microarchitecture will have a life of four years, so the AM4 platform will last until at least 2020. The SoC (systems-on-chip) design of the new processors will allow new features to be added without the need. After changing motherboards, the motherboard chipsets are just there to add additional features.

3. The Ryzen family
