Acer Humanity is a global initiative promoted by Acer to make the world a better place, bringing its ecosystem of activities closer to the core values of the company. Under the name of this initiative, Acer launched numerous programs dedicated to giving back entire communities around the world and the environment. This year, the focus was on education and the environment, areas where Acer has made a difference. Because of this, Acer for Education launched a contest in October among participating schools in Acer Innovative Schools in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to encourage students to develop a positive, community-centered approach and experience the importance of commitment to ecological activities.

The projects presented were evaluated based on the number of "green" actions and originality, among other criteria. What's more, the winning schools will be able to lend a hand to any charity educational organization of their choice by giving them a prize of 10 Acer devices each.
The winning schools were announced during the Teacher Advisory Council, which was held in Barcelona in November. Let's take a closer look at the winning schools and their projects.
Escolaglobal, Portugal
Escolaglobal involved 5-year-olds in a project to learn about recycling and reuse in a fun and creative way. The children made pencil holders and other objects from plastic bottles to sell. The entire collection of the sale, along with the prize, went to help two disadvantaged schools in Tarrafal, Cape Verde, within the Semear Futuro project. The project teaches younger students the importance of recycling plastic to keep it from dirtying the oceans, while offering disadvantaged students hope for a better future through easier access to knowledge.

Buluga Elementary School, a school located in a rural area, will receive the devices, as well as the possibility of connecting to the rest of the world online and access to opportunities that otherwise their isolation would have prevented in some way.
