Adata presents the ssd ultimate su650 m.2 2280 sata drive
Table of contents:
ADATA is adding a new M.2 solid state drive option which they are calling Ultimate SU650. However, unlike its other recent XPG offerings, this one is SATA and not NVMe. This means that it does not take advantage of PCIe x2 / x4 and therefore transfer rates are limited to about 550/510 MB / s read / write.
ADATA announces the latest SU650 M.2 2280 SATA SSD
The fact that you use an M.2 2280 form factor is still a convenient option. The 2280 form factor means it is only 80mm long and 22mm wide. There are no cables to connect, and it takes up much less space.
The converter itself supports smart SLC caching and features LDPC (Low-density parity-check) error correction technology. In addition, it uses 3D NAND TLC flash with an average time before failure (MTBF) of 2 million hours.
ADATA offers the Ultimate SU650 in 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacities. These drives are for typical use, so there are no larger 1TB and 2TB options. Although, ADATA does offer those capacity options for its XPG gaming SSD options. They also have a 1TB option for the Ultimate SU800 NVMe SSD.
There is no official pricing information at this time. However, the drive price is expected to be competitive among the low cost SATA M.2 SSD drives we see today.
