The arrival of Ryzen 3000 has been good news for users of all budgets. However, if you wanted to get a new generation motherboard you had to shell out a good amount of money. However, it seems that the AMD B550 is just around the corner, possibly giving rise to cheaper motherboards

New leaked AMD B550 chipset specs

Something that we could foresee beforehand is that, as lower cost alternatives, it is evident that these motherboards will bring fewer features. The idea is to offer full support to AMD Ryzen excluding the less relevant technologies.

Unlike the X570 chipset, these boards are oriented towards the input range. Therefore, one of the first sacrifices that we will see is the support for PCIe Gen 4 . Not for nothing, Ryzen 3000 processors will still offer up to a maximum of 4 PCIe Gen 4 lines , so we can power a fourth-generation NVMe SSD .

On the other hand, we will also see a slight cut in the support for USBs , since we will probably see a maximum of 2xUSB 3.2 Gen2 and 6xUSB 2.0 .

It is also commented that we will have 4 + 4 SATA 3 connections and that the link between the CPU and the chipset will be 4 PCIe Gen 3 lines . We do not know if the repercussion of this last data will be important, but in principle it could slightly affect the performance of Ryzen 3000 .

So far we do not have much more data and even less confirmed by sellers or by AMD itself.

We hope that the AMD B550 motherboards will come out for an approximate price between € 60 - € 120 (not confirmed), which would open up the market quite a bit. Also, its expected launch date is expected to be in October , although it is not known with certainty.

And to you, what do you think of the upcoming AMD B550 motherboards? Do you think they are worth it or would you rather buy a last generation X470? Share your ideas in the comment box.
