AMD has revealed a lot about its plans in the field of processors in recent months, detailing its Zen 2 EPYC CPUs planned for late 2018 and its third-generation AM4-based Ryzen processors at CES, but has been quiet with regarding its next iteration of the Ryzen Threadripper series, so far.

Third-generation AMD Threadripper confirms its launch after Ryzen 3000

In the company's presentation to investors, AMD published a roadmap for 2019 where it has confirmed that the second generation of Ryzen PRO Mobile will arrive in the spring, it has confirmed that the third generation of Ryzen desktop processors will come in mid-2019. And it has also confirmed that the third generation Threadripper will be released sometime after the latter.

What has been confirmed here is that the third generation of Threadripper will launch in 2019, although we don't know exactly when. We are assuming that third generation Ryzen Threadripper processors will go on sale late in the third quarter or early fourth quarter of 2019, about a year after the launch of the second generation.

AMD is expected to use the same 7nm Zen 2 cores that are part of the third-generation Ryzen and those of the second-generation EPYC, with a separate 14nm I / O chiplet. It is unknown at this time how many cores the third-generation Threadripper will offer, but the modular nature of AMD's designs could allow us to see 64-core chips in TR4, the same number of cores as AMD's second-generation EPYC products.
