With the recent launch of the AMD EPYC 7002 “Rome” server platforms, we were likely to start seeing some pretty impressive performance figures. After all, it's no secret that AMD's server market is doing very well.

AMD EPYC 7002 sets 11 world server performance records

Following an official announcement by Gigabyte and its collaboration with AMD, more than 11 world performance records have been broken .

The system used to set the new records used a Gigabyte R282-Z90 dual-socket rack server and the R272-Z30 rack server. These were used in conjunction with AMD's new 64-core EPYC 7742 processor.

The server-based performance figures are probably too technical for what we are used to on PC, but here we have them.

  • No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Integer Rate Base - Dual Socket System No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Integer Rate Peak - Dual Socket System

Using the R282-Z90 Gigabyte rack with AMD EPYC 7742 - Validation Certificate

  • No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Floating Point Rate Base - Dual Socket System No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Floating Point Rate Peak - Dual Socket System

Using the Gigabyte R282-Z90 rack with AMD EPYC 7742 - Validation Certificate

  • No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Floating Point Rate Base - Single Socket System No. 1 SPECrate 2017 Floating Point Rate Peak - Single Socket System

Using the R272-Z30 rack with AMD EPYC 7742 - Validation Certificate

  • No. 1 SPECspeed 2017 Floating Point Rate Peak - Single Socket System

Using the Gigabyte R272-Z30 rack with AMD EPYC 7742 - Validation Certificate

  • No. 1 SPECjbb2015 MultiJVM max-jOPS - Dual Socket System No. 1 SPECjbb2015 MultiJVM critical-jOPS - Dual Socket System

With Gigabyte R282-Z90 rack with AMD EPYC 7742 - Validation Certificate

  • No. 1 SPECjbb2015 Composite max-jOPS - Dual Socket System No. 1 SPECjbb2015 Composite critical-jOPS - Dual Socket System

Using the Gigabyte R282-Z90 rack with AMD EPYC 7742 CPU - Validation Certificate

Despite these impressive numbers this is perhaps just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the potential offered by these new AMD EPYC 7002 processors. It could also be a sample of what third-generation Threadripper chips could achieve.
