The Vega architecture has already arrived so it is time to start the cycle of rumors and leaks about what will be its successor, AMD Navi that will arrive under a manufacturing process at 7 nm to improve energy efficiency.

Start talking about AMD Navi

The GNU / Linux drivers already show the first reference to AMD's GFX10 architecture, Vega is known as GFX9 so it is quite clear that this new reference appeared is about AMD Navi, which should arrive throughout next year 2018 We know that AMD intends to put Navi on the market in late 2018 or early 2019 under the GlobalFoundries 7nm manufacturing process.

For now, AMD will focus on putting new silicons based on the Vega architecture on the market with GlobalFoundries' new 14nm + process, which comes in at 12nm for pure marketing. These new silicons will be what bring the Raven Ridge processors to life, the company's next generation of APUs. Regarding the desktop market, it is not known what AMD's movements will be before the arrival of Navi.

AMD Navi will be designed for Artificial Intelligence

In 2016 he talked about AMD Navi in terms of scalability and new memory generation, the latter can refer to both the HBM3 and the GDDR6. Its scalability concept could correspond to a multi-chip design in a similar way to what has been seen in the EPYC and Threadripper processors. This design would allow AMD to reduce manufacturing costs and achieve a higher success rate by not having to manufacture very large dies, which are more likely to fail.

We will still have to wait long to have the first official data on the Navi architecture.
