A new report notes that AMD is preparing to announce its new 35W Athlon 200GE and Athlon Pro 200GE APUs, based on Zen architecture and Vega 3 graphics technology.

AMD Athlon 200GE and Athlon Pro 200GE

The AMD Athlon 200GE and Athlon Pro 200GE 35W APUs would be announced on the occasion of the celebration of Computex 2018 next June in Taipei. These two would be the first Zen-based processors that are not part of the Ryzen series of products, indicating that they will rank a lower range.

The new Athlon 200GE and Athlon Pro 200GE models will have a configuration of just two cores and four processing threads, making them the least powerful processors based on AMD's Zen architecture. In return, they will have a TDP of only 35W, which makes them ideal for use in very low-cost devices, with a compact design and easy cooling. Their cores are expected to have a base frequency of 3.2 GHz in both cases, with an unknown turbo speed.

As for the integrated graphics, the inclusion of a Vega 3 core is expected, of which there is no clue about its specifications, although it is expected that its number of computing units is quite low. Still, they would offer good performance with very low power consumption.

It seems that AMD is reluctant to remove its Athlon brand, which is logical considering that it is the name that many of its most successful processors have received, Athlon was the main brand of the company's processors in its golden age, at the beginning of the 2000s and until the arrival of the Core 2 Duo from Intel.
