When AMD brought support for Radeon Image Sharpening to Polaris graphics cards relatively recently, users of the company's new Vega cards (Vega 64 and Vega 56) were frustrated because they were left without this functionality.

AMD Radeon Image Sharpening is available for Vega

With Vega being newer than Polaris, it was easy to see why these frustrations were present, especially when the Radeon VII went on sale less than a year ago. This didn't make much sense.

Today, AMD has confirmed that Radeon Image Sharpening will be arriving on RX Vega 56/64 graphics cards and Radeon VII via the company's Radeon Software 19.9.3 drivers. Radeon Software 19.9.3 will be released today and will ship with support for Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Breakpoint video game. This game will be released on October 4, therefore it is already supported by AMD.

With this move, AMD has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to its graphics card users, expanding support for new features to older architectures wherever possible. The same has been applied to technologies like FreeSync 2 and Radeon Anti-lag. We hope that AMD will continue to respond to community feedback in this way, with support for Integer Scaling being another highly anticipated feature from Radeon users.

Radeon 64 is a graphics card that was released in late 2017 and directly competes with the current GTX 1080 or RTX 2060. You can download the latest Radeon drivers from here.
