The Ryzen 3 2300X CPU was only available for the OEM market, but it seems AMD is starting to roll it out in the retail market. According to a report by the Malaysian publication Lowyat, AMD will start selling the Ryzen 3 2300X, which has only been available to OEM companies, to the general public starting this March 3.

AMD Ryzen 3 2300X hits the retail market

The Ryzen 3 2300X (code name Pinnacle Ridge) is an interesting little processor. It dates back to the Zen + days of AMD and features four cores without simultaneous multithreading (SMT), which means there are also four threads as well. The processor, which is manufactured in 12nm from GlobalFoundries, has a base clock of 3.5 GHz and a boost clock of 4 GHz.

The other attributes of the quad-core chip include 8MB of L3 cache, 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power), 16 PCIe 3.0 tracks, and a dual-channel memory controller with native support for DDR4-2933 RAM modules. The Ryzen 3 2300X also comes with AMD's Wraith Stealth CPU Cooler. The processor has an unlocked multiplier for manual overclocking of any user.

The Ryzen 3 2300X is now available for purchase on the Lazada e-commerce platform, where it sells for 298 Malaysian Ringgits, which is about $ 70. However, AMD has the same 2300X model on Amazon for $ 183.71, but we suspect it will go down, especially considering that the latest core Ryzen 5 3600 sells for just $ 174.99.

At $ 70, the closest competitor to the Ryzen 3 2300X is the Intel Core i3-9100F. The rival chip also has a quad-core, four-wire configuration, and is priced at $ 82. However, the i3-9100F comes with higher clocks. We will keep you informed.
