Amd ryzen 9 3950x outperforms i9

A PC with a 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X processor has appeared on Geekbench, revealing its superiority over the i9-9980XE, a chip that surveys about $ 2, 000.

The Ryzen 9 seems to come to wipe out its price and performance compared to the current competing i9 models. In a leaked Geekbench result, we see the new 16-core 32 -core Ryzen 9 3950X achieving superior single-core and multi-core results than the Core i9-9980XE.

The results show that the AMD chip outperforms the Intel in single-core score (5, 868 vs. 5, 395). But it's the 3950X's multi-core score that is especially impressive, with a 31% advantage over the i9-9980XE, which only gets (on average) 46, 618 points, according to Geekbench.

We do not know under what conditions the AMD variant was tested. Geekbench shows that the chip has a base clock speed of 3.3 GHz and a turbo clock speed of 4.3 GHz, which may indicate that this chip is an engineering sample. This means that the Ryzen 9 3950X could show even better performance in the fall, as AMD announced a base clock speed of 3.5 GHz and an increased clock speed of 4.7 GHz for the chip.

Current Geekbench results rank the Intel Core i9-9900K ahead of the AMD 3950X in single-thread performance (6, 209 vs. 5, 868), but if the AMD chip really did run at a 4.7GHz turbo clock speed, as announced officially, you could get 6, 400 points.

Either way, it is in multi-core performance that this chip really stands out, and it is the tasks of design and content creation for which this class of processors will be most used, so the advantage here would be decisive in terms of at price / performance in favor of the new AMD chip.

The Ryzen 9 3950X processor will be available in September.
