Ryzen 9 3950x overclocked outperforms ryzen threadripper 2970wx

Ryzen 9 3950X beats Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX with 24 cores

Much has been said about the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor , the father of the Ryzen 3000 line .

This processor is oriented to the desktop range, that is, to ordinary users, and yet it brings us an incredible 16 cores and 32 threads. Being the most powerful unit of this new generation, it was already aimed at offering excellent performance and it seems that the rumors have only been true.

After a lot of tinkering, Gigabyte engineers stably overclocked the processor with an X570 AORUS Master . They used an EKWB custom liquid cooling kit and even so the temperatures hovered around 93-101ºC at Prime95 .

For configuration, they ran the piece at 1, 415V with an x43 multiplier applied on a 99.98 MHz bus, which gave us the following results on Cinebench R15 :

As you see, the stock processor is capable of beating the current AMD 16-core CPU , the Ryzen Threadripper 2950X . However, once overclocked, we see how it can knock down even the best Threadripper of the moment, the 24-core TR 2970WX .

Compared to the competition, the current 18-core i9-9980XE only gets about 3700 points and 4200 overclocked, so the victory is clear. However, in November not only does the Ryzen 9 3950X arrive, but we will also see the new 10th Generation Intel Core X.
