Amd continues to dominate in Germany's largest retailer in October

The latest data from the largest German retailer, Mindfactory.de, is available and shows us virtually no change in AMD's dominant position during October.

AMD continues to dominate CPU sales over Intel

AMD's Zen architecture took control of most of Intel's stock in early 2018 and, more than two years later, there has been little or no change to its dominant position. With a 78% share of the number of CPUs sold.

The AMD Ryzen 3000 (Matisse) CPUs have managed to undermine Intel's market share, due to their competitive prices and great evolution in performance compared to the previous generation. On the contrary, Intel has not achieved a great performance evolution in recent times, so AMD had enough time, in the last 2 years, to achieve the performance of Core CPUs, especially in single-core performance.

Even in the HEDT segment, Intel is in trouble. Intel's Cascade Lake X CPUs will launch on November 25th and will mean a 50% reduction in Intel core prices. This price would surpass the second generation of AMD processors, but not the next Ryzen 9 3950X, which will recover the crown. That said, the 50% cut in price will make Intel's HEDT line once again competitive for high-end users. AMD will also be launching during these last two months the third generation of the Threadripper platform.

Mindfactory numbers are probably the same as other retailers in Europe and America, so it is important to know these figures. We do not see this trend change in the rest of the year, but 2020 will be an interesting year, when the tenth generation Intel Core is already established in the market. We will keep you informed.
