AMD's Ryzen Threadripper 3990X continues to break world records, delivering astonishingly fast performance across much of HWBOT's benchmarking line.

Threadripper 3990X sets a world record in Cinebench R20

Now, AMD's overclocking team has kicked in, with American overclocker Sampson setting a new record for the well-known Cinenbench R20 tool with 40, 527 points. This was accomplished on an ASRock TRX40 Taichi motherboard with a Ryzen Threadripper 3990X @ 5.25GHz.

This overclocking was accomplished using liquid nitrogen and the G-Skill Trident Z Royal series memory, which ran at the memory speed of CAS 14 and 2800MHz. Only time will tell if other Threadripper 3990X overclockers will be able to beat this record in time.

In stock, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X can already deliver mind-blowing levels of performance on multi-threaded tasks, but in the world of overclocking, the stock performance of a CPU is never enough. One has to wonder if we will ever see such a high Cinebench R20 score on a stock consumer grade CPU, and if so, how long will it take for such a processor to hit the market?

AMD Threadripper 3990X was released earlier this February and is the consumer processor with the most cores so far, about 64 cores and 128 threads. The total cache amounts to 292 MB and the nominal TDP is 280W. In Spain the 3990X can be obtained above 4000 euros. We will keep you informed.
