AMD has taken an important step forward in energy efficiency with its Radeon Pro 400 GPUs that we can find within the new Apple MacBook Pro, now they would be working on the development of a new graphics core based on the Polaris architecture and with greater performance and efficiency energy.

Two new AMD Polaris cores would be on the way

The macOS Sierra files show information on the new AMD Polaris 10 XT2 and Polaris 12 chips. The first of them would be a new revision of Polaris 10 supposedly more powerful and with an improved energy efficiency to be able to offer greater benefits without increasing electricity consumption. This new chip would give life to new iMac equipment that would be presented in March.

As for Polaris 12 it could be a new revision of the Polaris 11 architecture, perhaps with the aim of offering new integrated graphics or a new solution with very low power consumption and quite respectable capabilities. Of course this is just rumors and finally it could be just refractions of the Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 chips, something that would not surprise us either, and that could give life to a new generation Radeon RX 500.
