With the launch of the new Radeon RX VEGA based on the VEGA 10 architecture, AMD is already preparing everything for the next step, which will be the production of the VEGA 11 GPU, which would replace the Radeon RX 580 - 570 .

VEGA 11

AMD already has everything ready to start manufacturing VEGA 11 chips, which aim to raid the mid-range of graphics cards currently occupied by the RX 580 - 570 - 480 and 470. AMD wants to update this mid-range with entirely based graphics cards. in its new architecture and new HBM2 memories.

That is why the Sunnyvale company has already placed orders with GlobalFoundries and Siliconware Precision Industries for the manufacture of the VEGA 11 chip.

GlobalFoundries is known to use a 14nm manufacturing process with LPP and SPIL technology for packaging and integration of GPU and HBM memory. The first cards are expected to be available before the end of this year.

VEGA 20

AMD not only thinks about the short term with VEGA 11 but also the long term with the VEGA 20 chip. For the manufacture of this chip, AMD relies on TSMC and its 7nm manufacturing process, hitherto unprecedented on any graphics card worth its salt. This chip is expected to begin mass production in 2018.

VEGA 20 is believed to have been used in a Radeon Instinct graphics card with 32GB of memory. The intention is to compete against Nvidia's V100, with a strong presence of Artificial Intelligence. VEGA 20 would also be the first AMD chip to use the new PCI-Express 4.0 interface with 1 Terabyte / s of bandwidth.
