Amd zen supports up to 8 ddr4 modules

Anonim

Liviu Valsan, a CERN engineer, has unveiled new details of the future processor microarchitecture through a presentation on the hardware of its data centers, AMD Zen supports up to 8 DDR4 modules.

The AMD Zen microarchitecture is highly scalable offering the possibility to build processors with up to 32 physical processing cores, which will add 64 logical cores thanks to symmetric multi-threading (SMT) technology. All this possible thanks to GF's 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, which is a tremendous advance over the 32nm SOI of the AMD FX Vishera and Zambezi.

AMD Zen supports up to 8 DDR4 modules so you can compete in this regard with the Intel Xeon E7 platform with systems equipped with a large amount of DDR4 RAM.

AMD Zen will arrive at the end of 2016 to forget the fiasco of the Bulldozer modular microarchitecture that has never worked as it should have. At the moment it appears that it is meeting AMD's expectations. Those of Sunnyvale cannot afford a new fiasco and this time they must find the key to offer high-performance processors that can compete with the almighty Intel.
