We continue with the products announced by Acer at the IFA 2018 in Berlin, and this time it's up to what is, according to them, the lightest 15-inch laptop in the world, the Acer Swift 5. Will it be as surprising as it seems? Let's see it!

Acer Swift 5, only 990 grams for a 15-inch laptop

As we just mentioned, the new Swift 5 from Acer weighs only 990 grams in the case of a laptop with a 15-inch screen. So, we find a device with excellent portability that will surely interest anyone who has to carry the loaded laptop in their backpack every day, to give an example.

The key to this weight is found in the materials used, since the computer uses two different alloys, magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum. Magnesium is a material much lighter than aluminum, maintaining great physical properties, and therefore it is extremely suitable for this type of device.

If we move now to the characteristics and performance of this ultrabook, we find 8th generation Intel processors such as the i7-8565U and i5-8265U, in both cases with 4 cores and 8 threads. The battery lasts up to 10 hours of use, for the whole day.

To finish, the RAM will be up to 16GB DDR4 and the storage will be a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and its Full HD IPS screen covers no less than 87.6% of the front.

We find an especially interesting device to work with, and that is that its lightness, battery life and good dimensions (neither too small nor too big) make it an extremely portable device . All of this is always done at the expense of reducing the notebook's cooling and internal expansion capabilities, but it's only a matter of priority.

The Acer Swift 5 will be available in January 2019 at a price of 1099 euros in Europe. What do you think of this team? Do you think such a light weight is beneficial? Leave your opinion in the comments!
