Unboxing and design

The Aorus X5 V6 is protected by a double cardboard box, the first is the classic one for shipping and the second is the one we see in the previous image. It has a standard size for a laptop with these characteristics. On its cover we can see the Aorus logo printed and a very elegant black background.

In the rear area we find nothing to highlight, simply on one of its sides we have a sticker with its most relevant technical characteristics: processor, memory, hard drive…

Once we open the laptop, we find that the laptop is protected by a cloth and there is a second compartment with more accessories.

The laptop has dimensions of 390 x 272 x 22.9mm and weighs just 2.5 KG with the integrated battery. The first sensations are fantastic, since its design is very elegant (anodized aluminum body) and that it comes out of any stereotype in the gaming world, and that helps a lot when taking it with you to any meeting or outside of work. Due to its characteristics, it borders on the ultrabook concept! We are glad to see such a laptop.

The Aorus X5 V6 is a fairly large model, at 15.6 inches, a WQHD resolution: 2880 × 1620 pixels and 211 ppi. The screen is made of a glare-free IPS IPS panel with excellent response time and screen refresh. All this supported by Nvidia's G-SYNC technology that always helps great in the face of FPS crash.

Among its connections we find a power input, audio input and output, an HDMI 2.0 connection, a Mini Display Port, an RJ45 output, three USB 3.0 Type A connections, another USB 3.1 Type C connection and it does not have any unit optics.

When we look at the bottom of the laptop, it incorporates two areas of grids that allow the cooling system to take in the necessary air to dissipate all the heat generated during its operation.

It is time to talk to you about the keyboard. We find the Aorus RGB features and you may be wondering… What improvements does it offer us? Among its functions we find a soft keyboard that is very pleasant to the touch, even playing long hours.

Another of its most interesting options is the customization of lighting, since it allows us a total of 16.8 million colors and different effects that are quite attractive for lovers of colored lights.

One of the hallmarks of the company with its notebooks is the incorporation of the RGB LED lighting system. Ok, what is this for? Basically it allows us to configure the keyboard with different lighting options and a color scale of 16.8 million.

Above the keyboard we find the audio output, the two speakers of 2W RMS each and a small 2W subwoofer, which although headphones are the preference of the most enthusiastic players, sometimes it feels good to listen to good music on your computer.

As for the processor we find an i7-6820HK of the socket socket FCBGA 1440 with 4 cores and 8 threads based on the Skylake architecture at a frequency of 2.7GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.7 GHz, 8 MB of L3 cache and a TDP 45W. As an integrated graphics card it incorporates an Intel HD Graphics 530 that is activated when the equipment does not demand 3D applications (Rendering, games, multimedia), considerably reducing the total consumption of the system.

In RAM memory they have opted for a 16 GB kit in dual channel, a very generous amount to go over several years and nothing out of the ordinary in these ranges. They are DDR4L (1.2V) modules, which is the minimum requirement requested from the previous generation of Intel processors.

Gigabyte has chosen a dual storage system. The first disk is a 256 GB SSD with a PCI (NVMe) interface, exactly the Samsung SM951 MZVPV256 with a reading and writing greater than 1.5 GB / s respectively. To complement a fast system we also need a good storage system, this time it has a 1 TB data hard drive with a speed of 7200 rpm. This combination allows us to have a long storage for heavy applications and our files, and an SSD disk for the operating system and our most concurrent applications.

The graphics section is quite remarkable with the presence of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card with a total of 2048 CUDA Cores accompanied by 8 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit interface and a bandwidth of 256 GB / s. With these specifications we can play any game (the processor is already equivalent in itself to an i5-6600K with overclocking) in Ultra and without disheveled with the attached resolution.

It is complemented by an AverMedia Live Stream Engine video grabber that mitigates fatigue to the components during the streaming of our content or recording and then editing it with editing programs.

Regarding connectivity, it has a 802.11 AC Wifi wireless network card with a Killer chipset that defends itself quite well in the 5 GHz band. While in the network we have a Killer network card that increases up to 60% performance and latency.

Before going into performance details we would like to highlight that they incorporate four ventilation modes: silent, normal, gaming and custom . Each profile fully meets its objective and we believe that it is a success on Aorus's part.

We leave you a table representative of the potential of this new processor in Cinebench R15. This is the orange bar with a total score of 659 cb. But really and what interests us most is seeing their performance in games, right?

For this, we leave you two tables, one at FULL HD resolution and the other at 2K, demanding a little more from the graphics card.

Experience with Virtual Reality and temperatures

The incorporation of a Pascal graphics card, already advances us that it natively supports the best virtual glasses that currently exist: HTC Live without any problem. The experience could not have been better, and its performance and fluidity are excellent. There is also a small accessory (which we have not tested), which allows us to connect our laptop in a backpack for free use around the room.

The temperatures at rest are magnificent thanks to its excellent refrigeration, when we put a lot of cane it reaches the graphic card up to 67ºC, quite contained temperatures since it is a Gamer laptop and that we recommend for its quality of construction.

The Aorus X5 V6 is a 15.6-inch laptop with a WQHD resolution and a black aluminum design that gives it a very elegant and high-quality touch.

Among its features we find the best sixth-generation i7 processor, an 8GB GTX 1070 graphics card, 32GB of RAM , 256GB of SSD NVMe, 1 1TB drive, and Killer-certified wired and wireless connectivity. All this set makes it one of the best laptops that we can buy today.

Our experience with virtual reality could not be better, it hardly warms up and is excellent optimized for these high-performance tasks. Of course, it is not a price but its concept of elegance, almost ultrabook design and power we do not see it every day. Finally, we have a clear competitor to have the best gaming laptop on the market.

Currently we can find this model available in Spain for a price of approximately 2400 euros.
