It is speculated that Intel may have chosen to solder the IHS to the die of this processor instead of using a thermal compound as it has done with the processors of this platform that we can already find on the market.

The reason for this is that 18 cores generate a lot of heat so very good dissipation is needed and the best for this is soldering. The latter has been discussed since the processor has reached a frequency of 4.8 GHz in all its cores with a temperature below 90ºC with the ASUS Rampage VI APEX X299 motherboard.

To reach such a frequency, a voltage of 1.25v has been used , while it is mentioned that 4.4 GHz is possible with a voltage of 1.18v, figures much easier to handle for the cooling system used by users.

A result that shows that Intel has been stomping on its Core i9 processors and that it is going to make it very difficult for AMD and its recently launched Ryzen Threadripper.
