Last Saturday, in an absolutely unusual move by the company, Apple officially released iOS 11.2, the second major update of its current operating system available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

iOS 11.2 brings us Apple Pay Cash and much more

iOS 11.2 comes a month after the first major update, having been preceded by other small bugfix updates. If you have been misled this weekend, the new version is available on all compatible devices (iPhone 5s onwards, iPad mini 2 onwards, iPad Air and later versions including all iPad Pro, and sixth-generation iPod touch) via OTA through the app Settings → General → Software update.

The great novelty of iOS 11.2 is the arrival of Apple Pay Cash, the payment service between people that works through the Messages application. Thanks to this new feature, users will be able to send and receive money simply and quickly through the conversations held in Messages; the amount is sent from one of the credit and / or debit cards that you have linked to your Apple ID, while the money received is stored in an Apple Pay Cash card in the Wallet app, and can be used to make purchases or to transfer to a bank account. In the following video made by MacRumors we can take a look at how Apple Pay Cash works:

The bad news is that for the moment, Apple Pay Cash is a service that will only be available in the United States, although "the seed" is already sown for the other countries where Apple Pay is operational, as is the case in Spain..

iOS 11.2, as a major update that it is, also includes other new features as well as important bug fixes. Among those additional innovations we can highlight that "it allows you to wirelessly charge iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X faster using compatible accessories from other manufacturers", as well as "three new animated wallpapers for iPhone X" and much more.
