Technology advances unstoppably so it is inevitable that at some point the devices launched several years ago will be left without the support of their manufacturers, this is the case of the first generation Apple TV that is going to run out of support for iTunes.

You will no longer be able to use iTunes on the original Apple TV

Apple has announced its intention to withdraw iTunes support for its first generation Apple TV device, in addition to older operating systems such as Windows XP and Vista, this will take place on May 25.

This decision by Apple is supposedly due to the fact that the company is introducing new security measures thanks to which it will not be possible to use the latest version of iTunes on the mentioned devices. Apple considers that the first generation of its Apple TV is an obsolete device and will not receive support for the new version of iTunes, a clear example of planned obsolescence.

Users of Windows XP and Vista operating systems will also not be able to use the latest version of iTunes, although they will be able to continue using an earlier version, although not without problems, since they will not be able to make new purchases or re-download content from previous purchases.
