Table of contents:
ASRock continues its leadership in innovation with the announcement of the first Micro-STX motherboard for gaming equipment, the ASRock Z270M-STX MXM. This new board is 29% smaller than the Micro-ATX and will allow a new generation of very powerful and super compact equipment.
ASRock Z270M-STX MXM features
The ASRock Z270M-STX MXM has dimensions of 140 x 147 mm that leave no room for the installation of a graphics card. To fix it ASRock has mounted a 188mm MXM connector that allows you to mount a powerful graphics card for portable computers, we can even opt for the advanced GeForce GTX 1070 or GTX 1080. An external transformer is also supplied to provide more power to the graphics card so that it can function without problems.
The features of the ASRock Z270M-STX MXM are completed by the presence of two DDR4 DIMM slots with support for up to 32GB, three M.2 PCIe x4 ports, one M.2 for a WiFi + Bluetooth card, one USB port 3.1 Type-C, a Thunderbolt 3, three USB 3.0, headphone jack, and video outputs in the form of a DisplayPort, a Mini-DisplayPort, and an HDMI 2.0.
In the manufacturer's statement, the board was used alongside a 220W FSP 220-ABAN2 power supply, an Intel Core i7-7700K processor, and a portable AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card. Everything worked perfectly although it reached a high temperature of 89ÂșC at full load so it is time to improve the cooling.
