2017 has been a great year for top motherboard manufacturers with the launch of Intel's 200 and X299 series and AMD's AM4 and X399 platforms, giving consumers plenty of reasons to upgrade their systems or invest in a new PC. This has allowed Asus to increase its advantage over rivals.

Asus dominates the motherboard market

According to DigiTimes, Asustek has increased its motherboard market share to around 45%, thereby increasing its leadership over other motherboard manufacturers to dominate nearly 50% of the global market. In recent months Asus has found success in the Asia-Pacific markets, where the game has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Sources indicate that Asus expects motherboard shipments to continue to increase in Q4 2017 and Q1 2018, with the launch of Intel's Z370 platform. AMD also hopes to launch a new version of its Ryzen CPUs in early 2018, again boosting motherboard sales.

The NUC Intel Skull Canyon are back with Coffee Lake

Asus is easily the world's leading motherboard producer in terms of market share, beating other big names like Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock. With the launch of Coffee Lake, Asus plans to launch ROG, ROG-Strix, Prime, and TUF motherboards, offering a wide range of products that should be tailored to the needs of most PC builders.

It will be interesting to see what the Taiwanese competitors bring to compete in the coming quarters.
