Asus today launched its two new creations, the Asus Prime B365M-A and Prime B365M-K Micro-ATX format motherboards, based on the new Intel B365 Express chipset for 8th generation processors, but without USB 3.1. gene 2.

Two Micro-ATX boards with Intel B365 Express for the input range

These two motherboards that Asus has launched in Micro-ATX format must be placed in the entry range, since they are an evolution of the B360 chipset. The new B365 is a 22nm chipset designed for 8th generation Intel processors that supports a greater number of PCI lines than the B360, although in this case we do not have the capacity for USB 3.1 gen 2 connectivity either. These two boards respond to the name of Asus Prime B365M-A and Asus Prime B365M-K, the former being the model with the most features.

Asus Prime B365M-A is a Micro-ATX board equipped with 4 DDR4 RAM memory slots along with a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot with metal reinforcement and two additional PCIe 3.0 x1. For power, it has the traditional 24-pin ATX connector and an 8-pin EPS, together with 4 + 2 phases VRM for the CPU. For storage we have a slot M.2 with PCIe gen 3.0 x4 and SATA 6 Gbps, to this we add another 6 SATA 6 Gbps ports. As we have said, it does not have 3.1 gen 2 (10Gbps) ports, instead we have two USB 3.1 gen 1 (5 Gbps) ports and a connection for two other equal front access ports. We also have a Realtek RTL8111H controller for the Gigabit Ethernet port and a Realtek ALC887 controller for 6-channel HD audio.

We recommend our guide on the best motherboards on the market

The Asus Prime B365M-K is the cheapest model, its PCB is narrower since it only has two DDR4 memory slots. It also does not have a Vcore VRM heatsink or metal reinforcement for the PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot.

Asus also plans to release three other new entry-level gaming-oriented motherboards for the Coffee Lake architecture, with models: B365M-KYLIN, B365M-BASALT, and B365M-PIXIU that are basically better aesthetics variants than the B365M-K and with one less SATA port. In short, they are boards with features typical of an input range for low-budget users who want to allow good connectivity and with support for 8th-generation Intel, also at an affordable price. With a decent graphics card, we will have a low cost equipment for modest gaming, and be able to enjoy the latest titles at medium quality.
