ASUS today released a full list of motherboards that are receiving BIOS updates to allow full compatibility with Ryzen 3000 series processors, which will be released in the middle of this year.

ASUS updates a lot of AM4 motherboards, A series is absent

The compatibility list has been made public, giving relief to a large number of ASUS brand AM4 motherboard users, however others should be concerned.

The list covers motherboards ranging from B350, X370, B450 and X470 chipsets, and all series, from ROG to TUF, to PRIME motherboards, among others. However, ASUS A-series motherboards, based on the A320 chipset, are visibly absent, despite bearing the same electrical load as the B350 chipset.

The list of compatible motherboards

This should already set off alarms that not all current motherboards support Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2) processors.

An ASUS comment stating that "new models are going to be listed" gives some hope, but there have been unofficial rumors that A-series based motherboards do not support the latest AMD processors, and that the claim ASUS may well be targeting some B350, X370, B450, or X470 motherboards that were not listed.

Recall that Ryzen 3000 could be presented in the coming weeks, and with its arrival, so will the new X570 motherboards and their derivatives, which will get the most out of the new AMD processors.
