Asus has just announced the details of its new ROG X399 Zenith Extreme and Crosshair VI Extreme motherboards arriving for Threadripper and Ryzen processors respectively.
ASUS ROG X399 Zenith Extreme
The Asus ROG X399 Zenith Extreme arrives to become the manufacturer's new top of the range, it mounts an SP3 socket with 4096 pins and an X399 chipset to give compatibility to the new Threadripper processors of up to 16 physical cores and 32 processing threads. The board is powered by one 24-pin ATX connector and two 8-pin connectors so you won't be short of overclocking power. Surrounding the socket are eight DDR4 DIMM slots along with five DIMM.2 slots with support for NVMe M.2 drives.

Regarding the expansion slots we find four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, one PCI Express 3.0 x4 slot and one PCI Express 3.0 x1 slot. We continue with 6 SATA III ports, a U.2 port, two USB 3.0 headers, an internal USB 2.0 port, SupremeFX sound and the Asus Aura Sync RGB LED lighting system. The features of the Asus ROG X399 Zenith Extreme continue with switches for reset and BIOS flashback, eight USB 3.0 ports, two USB 3.1 ports, a ROG Aerion 10G LAN network card included in the bundle and WiFi 802.11 ac functionality.
