ASUS has presented its latest line of Gaming TUF laptops at CES in Las Vegas. Ready to see them? Inside we show them to you.
At Professional Review we really like the ASUS TUF range because it offers fairly balanced gaming performance. In this case, they have presented two models for each screen size: A15 and F15 for the 15 inches; A17 and F17 by 5pm. They will come equipped with the latest on the market, so if you are looking for a gaming laptop, read what we put below.
ASUS TUF Gaming, powered by the best
These two models will fill the ASUS TUF range at 15 inches. They will be powered by the latest Ryzen 4000 chips and by the 10th generation of Intel processors. On the other hand, they will be accompanied by the different Turing-based Nvidia RTX graphics. In addition, its displays will have adaptive synchronization technology or "Adaptive Sync" and a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
To finish, its batteries would have 90Wh, which is an attempt to provide the best possible autonomy in equipment that is not characterized by being very portable. And speaking of portables, its chassis is much more compact and easy to transport, not to mention its military grade material.
As mention to highlight, its keyboard is bulletproof. We will have a numeric keypad and separate arrow keys, like the mythical W, A, S and D keys that are differentiated in a translucent way. Each key uses Overstroke technology to get the best possible response. There is no lack of RGB lighting to customize our entire keyboard, even having profiles to use it as we want. According to TUF, they withstand 20 million pressures.
AMD for A15 and A17; Intel for F15 and F17
We will see notebooks of this line with AMD chips, specifically the Ryzen 4000. We are looking forward to seeing how they work, but ASUS has not already said that their gaming performance is fabulous and that they withstand very hard workloads. Thanks to its manufacturing in the 7 nm process, its efficiency is much higher.
The laptops that will benefit from these chips are the A15 and A17. We will have options equipped with Ryzen 9: 8 cores and 16 threads, being able to obtain a spectacular performance. In addition, the RAM for these computers will operate at a frequency of 3200 MHz.
On the other hand, the F15 and F17 models will come equipped with 10th Gen Intel Core, supposedly with some Intel Core i9.
Nvidia will be in charge of the graphics
ASUS has decided to have Nvidia Turing as the architecture for this line of notebooks. We know that the A15 and A17 models will come with the Geforce RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Ti. According to the brand, it seems that we will be able to “stream” without any type of problem with their equipment.
Say Ryzen chips enable variable Adaptive Sync with a refresh rate technology that can work with Nvidia's GPUs. In this way, a tearing-free experience is achieved, although the FPS vary.
IPS screens for the entire range
The ASUS TUF Gaming will come equipped with IPS screens to enjoy optimal viewing angles. Say that your frames will be as thin as possible, calling themselves " NanoEdge " bezels. The resolution will be Full HD.
In the 15-inch models we will see 144 Hz of refresh rate, but in the 17 ″ we will only reach 120 Hz. To me, this makes little sense because both models could have come at the same rate. Although at ASUS they will know better the reasons for it.
In his case, the webcam is found in the ordinary position: at the top of the screen. For me, the best position of all.
Improved portability and two finishes
It may seem utopian to you, but ASUS has taken this aspect very seriously, lightening their chassis by up to 8% on 17-inch models, and 7% on 15- inch models.
It has always been known that gaming laptops are not very portable, but we thank ASUS for their efforts to provide us with the greatest possible portability because, after all, they are portable, right?
And since we are talking about its design, to say that we will find two finishes: the Fortress Gray and the Bonfire Black.
Starting with the Fortress, we have a two-color laptop, finished in a bluish gray and an anthracite gray. It has certain rough details typical of the TUF family. Say that the top cover is very soft, with the "TUF" logo in the center.
Regarding the Bonfire, it brings various textures and a certain aggressiveness that we do not see in its brother. We see polygonal shapes and silhouettes that "screech" from afar that is a gaming laptop. Its color is a greyish black with red details that look great on it. It has rough areas that facilitate grip so you can carry it under your arm without fear of it falling.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Comparison: BQ Aquaris E5 4G vs Motorola Moto G 2014Lastly, to say that it is MIL-STD-810H certified for vibrations, small drops, extreme temperatures and humidity. According to ASUS, it can withstand drops of 30 cm in height without problem.
More efficient cooling
Many are interested in how refrigerated these laptops will be. Take it easy, we are not facing “esTUFas” precisely, but rather the opposite. Thanks to its new chassis and its honeycomb-shaped lower area, we find a series of very interesting fans and heatsinks. We find the 2 rear air vents that facilitate a perfect expulsion of hot air.
It has anti-dust tunnels whose objective is to "self-clean itself". As for the air flow, it moves through these channels to clean the entire system of dust.
Connections
One of the most important sections of all. Instead of telling you which ones they have, we will explain them to you quickly:
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A. 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C. 1 x DisplayPort 1.4. 1 x HDMI 2.0b. 1 x USB 2.0. 1 x 3.5mm jack to take advantage of headphones with DTS: X Ultra. 1 x RJ45.
Upgrades the order of the day
ASUS makes it easy for you, friends: you just need a Phillips screwdriver to open the laptop. Inside, we will find 2 SO-DIMM slots to expand our RAM memory up to 32 GB. In addition, we will have at our disposal 2 M.2 slots in which we can install up to 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD; one of the two slots is PCIe.
Technical specifications
To end this news, give you a small table with all the information commented in a summarized way. At the moment, we only know the specifications of the A15 and A17, so we will have to wait to see the F15 and F17.
