Ready to learn more details about it? Don't miss our review! Here we go!

We thank Asus for trusting the product for its analysis:

Asus TUF Z370-PRO technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The Asus TUF Z370-PRO is presented in a very compact package that follows the typical design of the brand. It is a cardboard box with a high quality print and based on the colors black and yellow. On its cover we find the name of the product, the incorporation of Aura Sync technology and the TUF logo.

While in the back we detail each and every one of the most important technical characteristics in several languages, including Spanish so that none of our readers get lost.

Inside we find the following bundle:

  • Asus TUF Z370-PRO motherboard. Back plate. Instruction manual and quick guide. Installation kit for Intel processors. CD disk with drivers. SATAs Cable Set. SLI HB cable. Adhesive stickers and manage wiring. Protectors for all sockets and connections.

Asus TUF Z370-PRO an ATX format motherboard for the LGA 1151 socket that reaches dimensions of 30.5 x 24.4 cm. The inclusion of the Z370 chipset makes it compatible only with the eighth generation Intel Coree processors, better known as Coffee Lake, as this chipset is not compatible with the seventh generation Kaby Lake and sixth generation Skylake. So you have to be very careful when choosing the correct processor?

We find it strange that in a TUF series motherboard it does NOT include the “TUF Thermal Armor” armor, which has been the main feature of the series and has always given it a very unique appearance. This time around, the armature "has been greatly simplified" and is now only printed on the PCB.

The TUF series is built with the highest quality components, that is why a 6 + 2 phase Digi + VRM has been included, this includes elements such as TUF Chokes, TUF capacitors and TUF MOSFET. All these technicalities that they mean? We summarize it for you quickly: it is a greatly improved power system, which allows higher levels of overclocking, greater stability and therefore better system performance.

Regarding cooling, it has a total of two heatsinks in charge of keeping the temperature of this power supply controlled. While the power system takes power through a 24-pin ATX connector and an 8-pin EPS connector. This is more than enough to meet the energy needs of a Core i7 8700K which is the most powerful processor that we can mount on this platform today.

Another of the great protagonists is its advanced RGB Aura LED lighting system that is present in 5 independent areas. This LED lighting system provides us with a total of nine different effects from which to choose:

  • Static: Always on Breathing: Slow cycle on and off Strobe: On and off Color cycle: Goes from one color to another Music effect: Responds to the rhythm of music CPU temperature: Changes the color according to the load of the CPUCometaFlashOff

The motherboard has a total of 4 DDR4 DIMM slots, thanks to this, we can mount a maximum of 64 GB with frequencies up to 4133 Mhz in dual Chanel to get the most out of the Cofee Lake architecture. In addition, it is fully compatible with the XMP 2.0 profile so that we can get the most out of it in a very simple way.

The Asus TUF Z370-PRO offers us the following configuration of PCI Express slots:

  • 2 x PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 x16 (x16, x8 / x8) 1 x PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 x16 (max in x2 mode) 3 x PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 x1

Thanks to this, it allows us to mount two or three graphics cards in series, since it is compatible with Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFire technology. We can also mount a system with tremendous potential for the most demanding video games on the market.

These slots are reinforced with Asus SafeSlot technology so they can support the weight of the most powerful and heavy cards without problems. To expand with extra cards we can use any of the three PCI Express x1 connections, for example, mount a video capture device or a high-performance sound card.

The Asus TUF Z370-PRO incorporates two M.2 type 2242/2260/2280/22110 slots for the installation of two hard drives in this format, one of them is compatible with PCI Express and SATA III interfaces while the second is only conforms to PCI Express. Both are compatible with the NVMe protocol and also support Intel Optane technology.

To this are added 6 traditional SATA III 6 Gb / s ports for 2.5-inch mechanical hard drives or SSDs, with this we will have plenty of storage and we will be able to combine the benefits of SSDs and HDDs without problems.

Finally, we highlight that it incorporates a sound card TUF Audio Design sound card supported by the Realtek ALC887 8-channel HD chip and with a separate section of the PCB to avoid interference, it also includes premium Japanese audio capacitors and is compatible with headphones high impedance and DTS technology. As for the network, it includes a Gigabit Ethernet port with the Intel I219V controller and TUF LANGuard technology that improves speed and stability.

Among its rear connections we find:

  • 1 x Keyboard / Mouse Combo Port PS / 21 x DVI-D1 x HDMI1 x Network (RJ45) 1 x Optical S / PDIF Out 5 x Audio Jack (s) 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Blue color) Type A4 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 (blue) 2 x USB 2.0

The design of the BIOS is traced to that of the Asus ROG and PRO series. Like its sisters, it allows us to control the speed of the fans, overclock and carry out advanced monitoring of the entire system. A 10 for Asus!

Final words and conclusion about Asus TUF Z370-PRO

The Asus TUF Z370-PRO is positioned as one of the best motherboards quality / price for the LGA 1151 socket and the Z370 chipset. Since it incorporates very good components, interesting cooling, a very stable BIOS and great performance for its price.

In our test bench we have used 64 GB of 3200 MHz RAM, an 8700K 4.8 GHz processor and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. We have been able to play both in Full HD, 2K and 4K without any problem to the main titles. It has been one of the best experiences on this platform. Good job!

Its price in online store is 148 euros, which we consider a fantastic price for a high-end gaming equipment. Although if you want to save a few euros, you have the option of the Asus TUF Z370-PLUS Gaming that costs 15 euros less.
