Benchmarks of a 16-core ryzen at 5.2ghz vs intel core i9
Table of contents:
We continue counting days until the AMD Ryzen finally hit the market and leaks remain the order of the day. Today, we are going to see some very recent ones about the benchmarks of a very mysterious 16-core Ryzen processor.
A few weeks ago it was rumored about a 16 core monster . Later, its existence was confirmed under the name of Ryzen 9 3950X, so it belongs to the line of Ryzen 3000 processors with 7nm transistors. And today, it is known as the first 16-core gaming processor and the fastest in its class, although there is something that does not fit.
16 core Ryzen benchmarks
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X runs at a base frequency of 3.5GHz and peaks at 4.7GHz in boost, numbers that do not match the announced 5.2GHz . This is why these leaks bring interesting news.
It seems that AMD has some cards up its sleeve and the sources speak of a processor with a possible different chip. They mention a 16-core, 32-wire processor with a base frequency of 3.3GHz (200MHz lower than the Ryzen 9 3950X), although the relevant point is its boost frequency. When activated, all cores are accelerated to 5.2GHz.
Benchmark of the AMD 16-core processor
For the frequencies, we can only think that it is a Ryzen 9 not yet announced or perhaps a test processor in test. Possibly it is this second, since with the Ryzen 9 3950X in play, it does not look like they are going to get another similar processor, but less frequently base.
Not in vain, we can make it clear that the Zen 2 micro-architecture is capable of reaching vertigo frequencies even in distributions with a high number of cores. The benchmarks were tested against a top MSI motherboard and good current DDR4 memories , reinforcing the idea that it is a test to find the limits of 16-core processors .
Ryzen vs Intel Core i9-9980XE
The processor has been put into perspective with Intel's crown star, the i9-9980XE, and the results are staggering. On the left we have the Intel data, while on the right we have the data from the mysterious AMD processor .
Benchmarks of the Intel Core i9-9980XE vs AMD 16-core
Although the Intel processor has 2 extra cores , it remains in second place. It is not so rare, because with the announcement of the Ryzen 9 3950X we saw how some professional overclockers did their thing. In the end everything will depend on how well the processor behaves and how good the cooling is that cools all those cores in boost.
If you want to get your own Ryzen 3000, they will go on sale on July 7th. For our part, we will launch reviews and benchmarks as soon as we can.
What do you think this processor will be? Do you think another processor is needed above the Ryzen 9 3950X ? Tell us your ideas in the comment box.
