We started collaborating with BenQ Zowie and their new range of monitors for the most enthusiastic gamers. This time we are dealing with the BenQ Zowie XL2430 with a 24-inch screen, Full HD resolution, 144 Hz and 1 ms response. Don't miss our review!

We appreciate the trust and the transfer of the product to BenQ Zowie:

BenQ Zowie XL2430 technical specifications

Many of you will wonder what resolution you have or what is the best. The standard is the 1920 × 1080 also known as FULL HD, then we move on to the 2K screens: 2560 × 1440 and the latter as the 4K 3840 × 2160.

This specific model is positioned in the most natural resolution to play: Full HD. For example, all entry-level iMACs already have this resolution by default and those of us who dedicate ourselves to graphic design really like it because it is not an excessively expensive monitor.

Unboxing and design

BenQ Zowie presents your monitor in a large and very robust box. On the cover we find the model in question and all its most important certifications in the area on the left in large letters. The back also has the same design.

Once we open the box we find the following inside:

  • BenQ Zowie XL2430 Monitor. Power Cable DisplayPort Cable Quick Start Guide Sound Cable. Support CD Warranty Card. Case.

The BenQ Zowie XL2430 is the first 24-inch monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels that incorporates a refresh rate of 144 hz natively if we use DisplayPort connectivity. This monitor is aimed at the most sybaritic gamers and users who seek the most at the best price.

We come across physical dimensions with a base of 520 x 568 x 199 mm and a weight of 7 KG. Its panel is 8 bit TN and has a maximum brightness of 350 cd / m and a contrast ratio of 1000: 1. To be a TN panel, its colors are really good, although we always recommend calibrating it via hardware to have the best experience. Unlike IPS Panels, TNs are more suitable for gaming because of their low 1ms GtG response.

Its design is very similar to the BenQ XL series of previous generations. The marks are not that they are extremely thin but they are solid and very pleasing to the eye. As expected, it is compatible with the VESA 100 x 100 mm connection in case we need to fix it with an articulated arm or an adapter to our wall.

Among its rear connections we have HDMI v2.0, DisplayPort, HDMI v1.4, a 3.5mm Mini-Jack audio output and the power socket.

The base allows us to perform great customization with a simple finger. We can adjust the height and lower the screen up to 90º. We really appreciate this gesture, since many monitors have good specifications but their base is not up to the price we paid.

Unlike other manufacturers, the BenQ Zowie series of monitors are made by professional gamers, and what better way to take advantage of the good technology for these machines. Among them we find Black eQualizer. It is an integrated color technology that increases the brightness of darker areas without overexposing bright areas. That is, the monitor increases visibility in dark scenes and thus we can see more quickly the typical campers in games like Battlefield 1 or Counter Strike CS: GO.

It also allows us to customize up to 20 levels of color brightness differences for all kinds of games. As we see… this monitor are bigger words.

One of its most striking features is the addition of the S Switch button. This is used to easily access the settings and switch between modes saved by us. Whatever you are seeing, reading, browsing or playing, we can quickly select it using the 1-2-3 buttons.

Finally a view of its excellent viewing angles.

OSD menu

Its OSD menu is quite comfortable and we get used to it pretty quickly. It allows us to configure any value easily and intuitively: color tones, contrast, brightness, sRGB colors, profiles and other adjustments thanks to its 5-way navigation joystick.

Final words and conclusion about the BenQ Zowie XL2430

The BenQ Zowie XL2430 is positioned among one of the most interesting Full HD and 144 Hz monitors on the market thanks to its 8-bit TN panel, a 24-inch screen that is perfect for any game and a base that is one of the best we have tested this year.

WE RECOMMEND YOU BenQ Launched the BenQ EX3203R, new certified monitor for DisplayHDR 400 and AMD FreeSync 2

We have carried out several performance tests in our test bench to evaluate the BenQ Zowie XL2430 with different uses:

  • Office automation and graphic design: When presenting a TN panel the viewing angles are not as extremely good as an IPS, but in its favor we can say that it is the best TN panel we have tested. Comfortable but if you dedicate yourself to design and want color fidelity, you will have to calibrate it via hardware. Games: It is one of the best monitors we have tested for gaming. Its response time of 1 ms, its 144 Hz with displayport and the large number of adjustments that we can make from the OSD is a very important option to consider. In addition, with the S Switch Button technology it makes everything quite easy to get the most out of it on different gaming platforms. Movies and series: Comfortable enough to watch series and movies with native 1080p resolution.

We recommend reading our guide to the best monitors on the market for PC

The question is whether you prefer to buy a monitor with these characteristics or make the jump to 2560 x 1440p with an IPS panel. We leave this decision to you, but everything will depend on your budget and what PC you have.

It is currently available in Spain for purchase for around 399 euros. It is not a cheap price but we think it is worth it as a gaming option for enthusiasts and e-Sports.
