Customization options

Before you start reading this tutorial, keep in mind that Windows customization options will only be available if you have this activated by means of a license.

Operating systems that are not will be fully functional. Only these customization options will be disabled.

If your case is not the previous one, don't worry, all these options will be available on your computer. To open all the options that we have available when it comes to personalizing Windows 10, we have two ways to get to them:

The quickest is to right-click on the desktop and choose the "Personalize" option

A slower option will be to go to Start and click on the configuration wheel. Next, we will have to go to "Personalization".

In any case, a window will open with the customization options that we have at our disposal.

In the options that appear on the left of the window, we will go to "Topics". In the first part of the window we see a preview where most of the changes we are making will be reflected. Just below are a series of buttons.

• Background: Refers to changing the desktop background. This option is the same as the one we have in the list on the left that says: “Background” Color: this option allows us to change the color of the icons in the start menu, and the border of the active window. It also corresponds to the "Colors" potion in the list on the left. Sounds: if we press, a new window will open where we can customize the sound of each of the events that occur in the system.

• Mouse cursor: using this option we can change the cursors shown on the mouse. We have at our disposal a list of sets of pointers for our mouse.

If we continue browsing below, we will have a section of the available themes and the option to apply one of them. The list to change the theme in Windows 10 is scarce, but then you will see how this list may increase.

When we click on one of the available themes, it will automatically change the appearance of your system, both its background, as well as sounds, colors and windows.

If we have manually made changes to the settings of the theme that we have active (background, pointer sounds) we have an option to "Save theme". So we can save our custom theme by assigning it a name.

Additional options

In addition to the options you have seen in the previous section for the Themes section, there are more customization options:

• Lock Screen: here we can customize our lock screen and login. We can change its background, icons, and Cortana functionalities.

• Fonts: we will also have a section to see the list of fonts that we have installed and the option to install more through Microsoft Store Start and taskbar: in these sections we can customize some options of the information and icons that appear in the bar task and start menu.

Download a theme in Windows 10

If we go back to the Themes tab, we will see a link to get more themes in the Microsoft Store. It is located in the Themes application section. If we click on the link, the store will open with a specific section for acquiring Themes.

To download one that we like, we will only have to click on its image or title and the options to download it will appear. If we navigate the page we will see a description, its score, opinions and the necessary requirements to install it.

Once the Theme is obtained, we will go back to the customization options. We can see that we already have it available for your application.
