From iOS 12 to iOS 11
Although iOS 12 has been shown to be a fairly stable operating system since its inception, some applications may not work as they should or, simply, once you have tried it, you prefer to wait for its final release. If so, don't worry as the process back to iOS 11 is pretty straightforward.
The first thing to keep in mind is that to restore your iPhone or iPad with all its data, you will need a backup of iOS 11, you will not be able to restore a backup of iOS 12 once you install iOS 11, so if you do not you have done, you can already leave it here.
- Step 1: Make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes (iTunes → About iTunes, or better yet, open the Mac App Store and check if there is any new version available in Updates).Step 2: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC with a Lightning cable Step 3: on your device, use the appropriate key combination to leave it in recovery mode (you will see the iTunes logo and the Lightning cable when you get it, as you see below).
On iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus: Quickly press and release the Volume Up button. Quickly press and release the button to decrease the volume. Then press and hold the side button until the recovery mode screen appears.
On iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the power buttons and turn down the volume. Do not release the buttons when you see the Apple logo, but keep pressing both until the recovery mode screen appears.
On iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad and iPod touch: Press and hold the Power and Home buttons at the same time. Do not drop them when you see the Apple logo. Keep pressing both buttons until you see Recovery Mode appear.
- Step 4: When a window appears with the option Restore or update on your Mac, click on Restore (this will erase your device and install the latest non-beta version of iOS).
- Step 5: After the software restoration is complete, you can restore an iOS 11 backup via iTunes or iCloud or set your iPhone or iPad as a new device.
