How to move gnome shell notifications
Table of contents:
- We can change the location of GNOME notifications using an extension
- Panel OSD is the GNOME extension that comes to the rescue
GNOME notifications are very useful and quite difficult to ignore if they are at the top center of our desktop, this is a good position so that you never miss any event that is happening on your computer, but not everyone thinks the same.
We can change the location of GNOME notifications using an extension
When notifications accumulate and occur fairly frequently, it can become annoying. We are going to see how we can move the notifications from there and they appear elsewhere on the screen.
The fastest way to move notifications from the default location is through an extension. Like our Chrome or Firefox browser, the GNOME Linux environment has the ability to use extensions created by the community, in this case the one we are going to use is called the OSD Panel.
Panel OSD is a GNOME extension that allows us to change the location of notifications, as simple as that, because the system by itself lacks this option (incredibly).
Panel OSD is the GNOME extension that comes to the rescue
So the only thing we are going to have to do is download and install Panel OSD from the following link.
One thing to keep in mind is that GNOME notifications cannot be disabled either, if we want to disable it completely instead of changing its location, we will have to resort to another extension.
Once the extension has been installed, we are going to go to the GNOME Shell Extensions preferences section to customize Panel OSD. In the screenshot above we see the customization options we have, quite complete so that the GNOME notifications appear where we think best.
I hope it has been useful to you and see you next time.
