If you have a Mac, you are fully aware that the Dock is an essential part of the macOS experience; It allows us to launch apps and folders quickly, access recent or favorite items quickly, or access the Finder. However, depending on the number of applications and folders or stacks you've pinned to it, and also on the size of your computer screen, the Dock may take up too much space. In that case, today we will tell you how to hide the Dock in macOS.

How to hide the Dock on your Mac

If for some reason, sometimes the Dock hinders your work in macOS, it is possible to hide it from view and leave the desktop completely clear. To do this, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:

  • First press the command ⌘ + Space on the keyboard. Then type "System Preferences" in the search box and press the enter key. Once the app is open, click on the "Dock" in the top row and check the box Hide and show the Dock automatically .

From now on, the Dock will no longer always be anchored at the bottom of your Mac screen, but will be hidden automatically whenever you are not using it expressly.

As I anticipated at the beginning, hiding the Dock is a very good solution when you have a small screen, when you have filled the Dock with apps and folders, or simply if you do not need to keep this element always present on the screen.

On a personal level, I have a Mac Mini and a 24-inch monitor, so, for the moment, I have not needed to hide the Dock. Also, I must admit that I love it, it seems to me a mark of distinction of Mac, it is incredibly useful and, honestly, I like to have it in sight.
