We already knew that the nickname of Ubuntu 17.10 will be Artful Aardvark, but what we needed to find out more accurately were the release dates of the next Alpha and Beta versions, as well as the arrival date of the final version of Ubuntu 17.10.

Fortunately, the release schedule and some of the upcoming improvements to Ubuntu 17.10 are now available on the Ubuntu Wiki, and we'll reveal it to you below.

As can be seen, the development of Ubuntu 17.10 will go through several phases and will last for 25 weeks, until its gloobal release takes place in mid-October.

What's new in Ubuntu 17.10

While it is early to know exactly what all the improvements and new features of Ubuntu 17.10 will be, for now some of the biggest changes are already known:

As already indicated in the Ubuntu 17.10 release schedule, the next version of the operating system is scheduled to reach all users on October 19, 2017, although before that it will have a final beta on September 28, while the September 13 will release the GNOME 3.26 desktop environment, which is the version most likely to end in Ubuntu 17.10.
