JPEG is a compressed format for high resolution photo files. In addition, it is quite versatile since we can configure the file size with the corresponding loss of quality. At low resolutions, photos in this format will lose quite a bit of quality

PNG

PNG is one of the most widely used lossless formats by websites today. The strong point of this form is that it allows you to create images with a transparent background and gradients, very useful on websites such as high image quality. However, being a lossless format, high-resolution images will take up much more space than JPEGs.

TIFF

As usual, the first option we have is already found natively on our computer, and it is through Paint. This program has been available in our system since time immemorial and has the possibility of reducing the size of the photos. We are going to see the procedure to follow and in how much space our image will be reduced.

• We are going to right click on the image and we are going to choose " Open with... ". Now we choose Paint to open it

• Once opened, we will go to the top and we will see a button called " Resize ". Press and a small window will open to change the size of the image. We recommend choosing the " Pixels " option and activating the " Maintain aspect ratio " option. The only thing we will have to do is change to place a smaller size, for example, a width of 800 pixels. It will automatically change down according to the ratio.

Now click on save as to save our reduced size image. We will notice that the image quality worsens, but the weight will improve a lot. We will see that it now weighs only 166 KB. It is a spectacular reduction.

Now we are going to perform the same procedure with the other program available in Windows. This is Paint 3D, an evolution of Paint for Windows 10.

Likewise, we open the photo through the program with the previous procedure.

In this case we must click on the “ Canvas ” icon to activate the resizing options.

The operation is exactly the same as in the previous case. We leave the aspect ratio block active so that the image does not deform, and we place the size that we want.

By saving, we have achieved a 100 KB image, less than in classic Paint. And we also notice better image quality, which is why we recommend this program.

Final opinion

With the tests carried out, we have verified that the program that best behaves in Windows is Paint 3D, although in both Paint and Paint 3D we do not have the possibility to adjust the output quality to obtain a certain size.

On the other hand, through Web Resizer and Image Resizer we can do the latter and obtain more personalized outputs.
