How to use virtual desktops in windows 10

Windows 10 has made it extremely easy to configure and use multiple virtual desktops on this system, and not long ago we explained what they were .

Currently, multiple desks are excellent for keeping other projects ongoing and organized. Or simply to quickly hide them when your boss appears and you are playing or chatting;).

What is a virtual desktop?

Virtual desktops are a built-in feature in Windows 10. If you've used Linux or Mac, you know this can be a very useful feature. If you open a large number of programs at once, this feature allows you to keep them organized.

If you have only one monitor connected to your PC, you will be running all the applications on a single screen. This is fine if you only use a browser and a program like Microsoft Office, but if you have a ton of applications open, it can make things a little confusing, or just awkward. Virtual desktops are like having multiple monitors: you can create different workspaces where you can organize applications. So if you want a desk for work and another for leisure, now you can do it in Windows 10.

How to create a new virtual desktop in Windows 10

• Click on the Task View button. You can also simultaneously use the Windows keys and the Tab key on your keyboard. Click on "New Desktop", located in the lower right corner of your screen.

If you want to skip the previous two steps, you can use this keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Windows key + D.

How to switch between virtual desktops in Windows 10

• Click the Task View button on the taskbar. Click on desktop 2 or any other virtual desktop you have created.

You can return to your original desktop at any time by following the steps above, but choosing Desktop 1.

If you want to skip the previous two steps, you can use this keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Windows key + left arrow / right arrow.

How to move windows between virtual desktops in Windows 10

There are two ways for you to move windows between virtual desktops. First, you can click and drag the windows; second, you can right click on the window and use the menu.

Click-and-drag method

• Click the Task View button on the taskbar. Click and hold the window you want to move. Drag and drop the window onto another virtual desktop.

Right click method

• Click the Task View button on the taskbar. Right-click the window you want to move to another desktop. Choose which desktop you will move the window to.

How to remove a virtual desktop in Windows 10

• Click the Task View button on the taskbar. Hover over the desktop you want to delete. Click the X in the upper right corner of the desktop icon.

By deleting a desktop, you will return to the main desktop.
