Comparison: motorola moto g vs bq aquaris 5 hd
After passing the Bq Aquaris 4, 4.5 and 5 in the ring, now it's the turn of the last of the family, the Bq Aquaris 5 HD. Basically it is just like its sibling the standard Aquaris 5, only improvement in its resolution has been added. Next we will see if it has meant a sufficient remodeling to be up to the mid-range Motorola Moto G, a terminal well-known by the Professional Review team and its public. Attentive to the confrontation between a Spain brand and the model resurrected by Google:
Let's start with its screens: the Aquaris 5 HD has a 5-inch capacitive HD IPS (178-degree viewing angle) screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a density of 294 dpi. The Moto G features 4.5 inches and the same resolution as the Spanish device, but with a density of 329 ppi. The glass of the company Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is responsible for protecting the screen of the Moto G, while the Aquaris 5 HD lacks this feature.
Processors: While the Bq Aquaris 5 HD features a 1.2GHz Quad core Cortex A7 SoC and a PowerVR Series5 SGX544 graphics chip, the Moto G has a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU and an Adreno GPU 305. Both smartphones have a 1 GB RAM memory. Its operating system is Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean (upgradeable) for Motorola and version 4.2 Jelly Bean for Bq.
Now its cameras: the Aquaris 5 HD presents a rear camera with an 8 megapixel proximity sensor, while the Moto G has a 5-inch lens. The cameras of the two smartphones feature autofocus and an LED flash. Both also have a front camera, practically the same: in the case of the Bq it is 1.2 MP, while that of the Moto G has 1.3 MP. Video recording is done on the Moto G at 720p and 30fps, but in the case of the Aquaris it has not been specified. As it could not be less, we have the option of making video calls and self-portraits.
3G, WiFi, or Bluetooth are some of the types of connections that both devices have. As we can see, some very elementary connections today. 4G is not supported by either model.
We will continue with his designs: the Bq Aquaris 5 HD has a size of 141.8 mm high x 71 mm wide x 9.1 mm thick and weighs 170 grams. The Moto G has dimensions of 129.9 mm high × 65.9 mm wide × 11.6 mm thick and weighs 143 grams, making this device smaller and lighter than the Spanish model. The Motorola model is protected from shocks with two types of casing: the " Grip Shell " that surrounds the terminal and the " Flip Shell ", which wraps the device completely, although it has a front opening so that we can use its screen.
As for its internal memories: the Bq Aquaris 5 HD has a 16 GB model, expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. The Moto G however has two different models on the market: one of 8 GB and the other of 16 GB not expandable.
Its batteries are practically the same in terms of capacity: the Moto G features 2070 mAh and the Bq Aquaris 5 HD 2100 mAh. Potentially they are also very similar, so we assume that their autonomies will also be. Although the last word will have it as always the handling that we give to the device.
Finally, its prices: the Moto G can be ours for just 175 euros thanks to Amazon. A very good price in relation to its characteristics. The Bq Aquaris 5 HD has a slightly higher price: 199.90 euros, as pointed out on its official page.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Elruggedmobile offers us great discounts on their most popular smartphonesAuthor's conclusion: they are very similar terminals, but in my opinion I stick with the Motorola, screens practically the same in quality but more compact and less heavy. A good protection of its screen and similar autonomy also with the Bq. I would choose either one, but given a choice… the Moto G.
